17 Jun Sow Bountifully (2 Cor 9:6) by Kevin McNicholas
“Consider this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.“ ~ 2 Cor 9:6 (full readings)

Kevin’s Reflections: I am considering this, and wondering how I can better sow in the Lord’s Vineyard? I haven’t been to the Diocesan prayer rally with our very courageous Bishop Paprocki, and need to make plans to attend, as the Bishop has fearlessly led us in opposition to abortion, “redefinition of marriage” and so many other important issues. The Bishop also leads prayer outside an abortion clinic in central Madison County not far from where I work, and I need to make plans to attend this prayer service as well. We are the life of the Church, God’s servants, those who carry out His Work here on earth. The thought struck me lately that God is never going to allow human beings to stand in the way of His Will being done. So regardless of the societal legality of abortion, embryonic stem cell research, gay “marriage,” etc. God is still going to win. What I need to do is pray for the courage to participate in actively opposing these evils. Society has no authority to determine right and wrong, that has been determined for us from the beginning of time by He Who always is, always was, and always will be.
* Kevin is a School Social Worker in Southern Illinois. He and his wife Laura have been blessed with two living miracles: a 2 1/2 year old daughter named Elliana (“the Lord Answers”) and a 1 year old son named Jeremiah (“God is Exalted”). They have also been blessed during the 9 years of their marriage to be able to visit Catholic pilgrimage sites worldwide, as well as to serve their Parish and community..

Faith Quote: “Yes indeed, we become like God if we allow ourselves to be shaped by this sign; if we ourselves learn humility and hence true greatness; if we renounce violence and use only the weapons of truth and love.” ~Pope Benedict XVI
