02 Sep Stand Up for the Truth (Lk 4:41) by Kevin McNicholas
“And demons also came out from many, shouting, ‘You are the Son of God.’ But he rebuked them and did not allow them to speak because they knew that he was the Christ.” ~ Lk 4:41 (full readings)
.
Kevin’s Reflections: The demons were right, He is the Son of God! I read once that the devil “believes” in God, and that he knows the Bible very well, in order to try to trick us and confuse us when we hear of new philosophies or trends of thought that are in contradiction to Christianity. We are called as Christians to go beyond mere “belief,” and to put our Faith into action. St. John Paul II spent his life opposing thoughts and ideas that detracted from God, he is truly a Champion of Faith: he has helped lead countless souls to Heaven. He fearlessly stood up for the Truth, even facing seemingly staggering opposition. Today I am going to ask his special intercession in order to help me stand up for the truth! We are blessed as Christians to know the Truth beyond a doubt, and when we are tempted, we have the Holy Trinity and the entire Host of Heaven to come to our aid. The Creator is greater than any creature, which is why God wins in the end! It is easy to want to become discouraged, seeing so much sin and evil in the world. God uses everything for His greater glory; and in reading the Bible and looking at the course of history, we can see more and more that God always wins!
