“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites.  You traverse sea and land to make one convert, and when that happens you make him a child of Gehenna twice as much as yourselves.”  ~ Mt 23:13 (full readings)

Rich’s Reflections:    In the Gospel today, Jesus was speaking to the scribes and Pharisees, but He could have equally stated today, “Woe to you, boyfriends, Planned Parenthood counselors, and parents.  You traverse to your nearest inner-city abortion clinic to make one pro-choice convert, and when that happens you make them a child of Gehenna twice as much as yourselves.”  Gehenna is derived from the Hebrew ge hinnom or the “valley of Hinnom.”  The valley of Hinnom is a deep narrow glen just outside of Jerusalem.  In Old Testament times this had been the scene of the practice of child-sacrifice under some of the godless kings of Israel.  Today, Planned Parenthood is the new scene for the practice of child sacrifice, and boyfriends, counselors, and parents are pressuring women to sacrifice their unborn child.  Pray for those who would be led to Gehenna by their so-called loved ones, and pray for those children of Gehenna.
