Tender Compassion of Our God (Lk 1:78-79) by Angi Castle

24 Dec Tender Compassion of Our God (Lk 1:78-79) by Angi Castle

Take 2“In the tender compassion of our God, the dawn from on high shall break upon us, to shine on those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death, and to guide our feet into the way of peace.” ~ Lk 1:78-79 (full readings)

Angi’s Reflections: Merry Christmas Eve! It is in the tender compassion of our God that our Savior, Jesus Christ was born in manager in a humble stable this very night. He now shines upon all who live in darkness and the shadow of death. He is our light, our hope, and our salvation. He is our peace and our joy. His mother, Mary, knew He was our light out of darkness; she risked much to carry Christ in her womb. On this special day, we reflect upon our many blessings, and we pray for those who are struggling to find their way out of the darkness – the homeless, those with addictions, the forgotten elderly, children in foster care, our military in harm’s way, and mother’s contemplating abortion. May this special day, the day of Christ’s birth, remind us all of how blessed we are; and may that innocent baby born in a manger, that crisis pregnancy, help keep us focused on ending abortion with peace and love.
