Reflection:  Let’s consider the differences between David and Goliath.  Goliath is much more experienced, has a larger staff, and all the best tools.  David, on the other hand, is young, inexperienced, probably alone, and brings only a sling and a few stones as his tool.  By all human calculations, David is going to be clobbered by Goliath!  Don’t we often feel like David vs. Goliath as we strive to restore a Culture of Life in the United States? Abortion proponents have more money, more lobbyists, the best tools that money can buy!  The task can often seem overwhelming and discouraging at times.  In these moments we can learn a lot from this story.  When we are daunted by the size of the task and keenly aware of our limitations, we are called, like David, to take risks with the tools that God has given us, as inadequate as they may feel.  And the Creator of the universe, who holds everything in His hands, will use our humble efforts to bring about something much bigger than what we could have accomplished on our own.  Because, in the end, “the battle is the Lord’s.”
.
Challenge:  Today take a specific risk to build a Culture of Life.  Have a conversation with a co-worker on the life issues; write an opinion editorial for your local newspaper on a current life event, or pray in front of an abortion facility.  Trust that God blesses these efforts abundantly!
