Welcome God now with this LIFE Group Devotion(FB), provided by LIFE Runners (FB). LeadersGuest Authorslust-love

“To all the beloved of God in Rome, called to be holy.” ~ Rom 1:7 (full readings)

Rich’s Reflections:    God has not called us to immorality but to holiness (1 Thes 4:7); but our secular society believes that holiness restricts our desires.  That somehow, holy people are not free to do what they really want.  Look at how our society scorns celibacy.  Since our world has taken its eyes off of eternity, it thinks sex is our ultimate fulfillment and therefore cannot understand why anyone would abstain from it, either before a loving marriage or as a lifetime vocation.  The world is bound by lust.  Look at everything that we are exposed to in the media, TV, magazines, advertisements, etc.  The world cannot imagine any other way to think about sex.  We have come to believe that unless we indulge lust we condemn ourselves to a physically and psychologically damaging sexual repression.  The world knows nothing of the redemption of sexuality that frees us from the bonds of lust and enables us to be a sincere gift to others, whether in marriage or in celibacy for the Kingdom of God.  Children conceived in lust is one reason that people kill their children.  They view their unborn child as a “mistake” and not as the fruit of their love and as a gift from God.  Love fulfills and lust kills.
