25 Sep Through Every Age … A Refuge (Ps 90:1) by Stacey Wollman
“A Prayer of Moses, the man of God. Lord you have been a refuge through all generations.” ~ Ps 90:1 (full readings)
Stacey’s Reflections: Through every age … a refuge! Refuge is such a beautiful way to describe our God! We hear this message reinforced throughout the word of God several times, Psalm 90 and 91 are fantastic scriptures to combat fear and uncertainty. When you look up the meaning of the word refuge, we learn that “refuge” refers to providing shelter, protection, safety, security, asylum, and a sanctuary. The Lord shelters those of us who work directly in pregnancy help centers. When we say yes to serve at a Pregnancy Help Center, we become a place of shelter by partnering with God to become a refuge in a time of crisis. Across North America there are over one thousand Pregnancy Help Centers, many who provide pregnancy testing, option counseling, and ultrasound services. Pregnancy Help Centers provide a safe environment, a “refuge” for women to find help in the middle of their storm of a crisis pregnancy. Everyday, we help women who are facing an unplanned pregnancy and are in emotional and spiritual turmoil. Everyday, volunteers work to bring love, compassion, and truth to women in the middle of their storm; a refuge! Everyday, we witness miracles happen and lives saved!
