“Immediately his mouth was opened, his tongue freed, and he spoke blessing God.” ~ Lk 1:64 (full readings)

Rich’s Reflections:  In today’s Gospel, Zechariah’s tongue was loosed to praise the Lord when he obeyed the archangel Gabriel by naming his son “John”.  Are we tongue-tied when it comes to praising God, or can we speak of His glory to others?  Are we at a loss for words when it comes to defending our faith, or defending the unborn?  Maybe the devil has got our tongues.  The trick to loosening them is to think back to the point where you last disobeyed the Lord.  For many of us, this will not be too far into the past.  Obey the Lord by going to confession and you will find yourself sharing your faith more freely.  Loosen your tongues today and praise the Lord for His forgiveness!
