“Then the two recounted what had taken place on the way and how he was made known to them in the breaking of the bread.” ~ Lk 24:35 (full readings)
Kevin’s Reflections: Sometimes the presence of Jesus isn’t immediately obvious. Just like the two disciples on the road to Emmaus, we can be downcast as we reflect on the circumstances of life. Yet as we recognize the Lord, our perspectives are transformed. When a child is conceived, his or her presence may not be immediately obvious either. Yet this child will transform the parents – and others – in beautiful ways if we recognize the Lord in the situation and allow ourselves to boldly say “Yes!” to God. Jesus’ mother Mary models this response even under excruciating circumstances, and look at the transformation of humanity that results!
