Pastor Steve’s Reflections: “Thus says the Lord GOD: Cry out full-throated and unsparingly, lift up your voice like a trumpet blast.” My mother says that my voice carries. Of course there are times when my voice is very quiet. As a pastor who communicates regularly, it becomes difficult if my voice is scratchy or I lose my voice. You may have a very soft and quiet voice. You may have a voice that is normally loud and blaring. You may be quiet by nature and don’t speak much. You may be one that chats quite a bit and normally speaks over 20,000 words in a day. Isaiah is asking us to lift up our voice like a trumpet. Wow…to me that is pretty loud. Trumpets blast. I haven’t heard too many “quiet” trumpets. Have you? You know when a trumpeter is around. What a glorious sound when they are on pitch. Each of us have pressure points that enable and allow us to speak loudly. What pushes your button to help you to speak loudly? Abortion? Trafficking? Sexual Orientation? Politics? Homelessness? Starvation? World Poverty? High electrical bills? Isaiah was telling the people to blast about sins. We sure spend a lot of time blaring and blasting about things that are not eternal. If you are speaking up loudly for the less fortunate and down and out, keep the shattering noise alive and help stop travesties in our world from continuing. Be one that stands for the unborn. Be one that stands for righteousness in government. Be one that stands for Biblical standards. Lift up your voice for Godliness.
