30 May Unity (Jn 17:16) by Steve Castle
They do not belong to the world any more than I belong to the world. ~ Jn 17:16
Reflection: We are aliens in a foreign land. Our life is not our own. We were bought at a price; the blood of the cross. We love because Christ first loved us. As Christians we stand on these truths. Today Jesus reminds us of our inheritance in His high priestly prayer to the Father. We don’t belong to the world. Because of this the world will always hate us, “I gave them your word, and the world hated them, because they do not belong to the world any more than I belong to the world.” We are adopted sons and daughters of God and bear our Father’s name by our Baptism. This is a kingly inheritance, but it comes at a cost. That cost is our own lives. We are hated because the world first hated Jesus… to His death. This spiritual battle is waged everyday in the hearts and minds of those perpetuating the lies of the abortion industry. Let us together pray for unity as Jesus prayed, “I pray not only for them, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, so that they may all be one, as you, Father, are in me and I in you, that they also may be in us, that the world may believe that you sent me.”
.
Challenge: Stand firmly All In Christ. Let us stand firm in our commitment to pray for our enemies and those who harm the least of these through the abortion industry.

Inspiration: “Embrace with hope the commitment to ecumenism as a duty of the Christian conscience enlightened by faith and guided by love. Jesus himself, at the hour of his Passion, prayed ‘that they may all be one.'” ~ St. John Paul II, Ut Unum Sint, May 25, 1995
