11 Oct Vulnerable (Rom 6:13-14) by Kathy Forck
Present yourselves to God as raised from the dead to life and the parts of your bodies to God as weapons for righteousness. For sin is not to have any power over you, since you are not under the law but under grace. ~ Rom 6:12-18

Reflection: This is so true as those witnessing against abortion use their bodies “as weapons for righteousness” and thus make themselves vulnerable to abortion mill workers and bystanders. Eight years ago, when we began this prayer vigil in the hopes that even one baby might be spared and one mother saved from a life of regret, an estimated 800 babies were dying behind the doors of an ugly beige building. We saw the parking lot full day after day and many passersby did not even know that babies were aborted in this place on Providence Road in Columbia. Eight years have passed and we still have no idea when this place will close its doors for good, but St. Luke tells us to ” … be prepared for an hour we do not expect when the Son of Man will come.” As I look back over the past eight years, I realize with so much thankfulness and joy that Jesus has come and He has ended the legal and immoral death of babies at this particular place. Many abortionists have quit since the prayer vigils began. We see God’s miracles as we witness babies, mothers and families saved. We saw God’s community rally together each time they were called to stand for Life and we saw what our Mighty God can do! “Much will be required of the person entrusted with much, and still more will be demanded of the person entrusted with more.” God has given us much in Columbia and we must give much more to this cause for life. Challenge: It is easy for us to think it is hopeless to stop the murder of babies in this country. It is easy to be overwhelmed by the sheer numbers lost each day. Our God has given us the grace to do “something”. That something has brought about a change in Columbia that many never thought possible. What can you do to bring about change, to save babies? We have seen that the physical prayer presence in front of abortion facilities is working, it is saving babies. If you are physically able, can you go to the place where the little ones are dying? I pray that you say, “Yes.”

Inspiration: “For me, prayer is an upward rising of the heart, it’s a simple glance toward heaven, it’s a cry of gratitude and love in the midst of trials as much as in the midst of joys. In short, it’s something big, something great, something supernatural that expands my heart and unites me to Jesus.” ~ St Therese of Lisieux

Posted at 10:06 AM, 08 November 2017A little over a year has passed since this was posted. And sadly, Columbia has begun to abort babies surgically. This is horrific and yet we find peace in the knowledge that Jesus’ will close this place of death. We have expectant hope and as I see the faithful come out and pray each abortion consultation day and actual abortion day 72 hours later, I know that this battle will be won just as the other battles have been won. “Prayer availeth much” from the just men and God will answer our prayers in His most infinite wisdom. Have courage and stay the course.. Thank you faithful prayer warriors for youer stalwart perseverance and thank God for His outpouring of strength and justice.
