Jimmy’s Reflections:  Today is the first day of the rest of your life.  Your ordinary life.  The Baptism of the Lord concludes Christmas season for most of us.  We enter back into the routine of Ordinary Time; ordinary life.  Most of us have taken down the Christmas tree and put the nativity scene away until 343 days from now (yet who is counting).  Our readings at church recently spoke to us about Jesus’ birth and childhood years.  Throughout the next few months God will speak to us.  Will we listen?  In the midst of a 9-5 work routine, will we listen to the Son?  For those with classes at school, will we listen to the Son?  For those with children, will we listen to the Son?  In the midst of ordinary activities, will we listen to the Son?  For those in the midst of silence, will we listen to the Son?  Let us not wait until Easter, or the days before such as Holy Thursday or Good Friday, to listen to the message that the Son of God wants to speak to us.  Previous LIFE Runners’ devotions have covered how God can speak to us.  Perhaps listening to God is one of your New Year’s Resolutions.  As we are just about halfway into January, how are you doing with that?  Don’t wait until springtime.  Ask the Son to open your heart right now.

Faith Challenge:  Sometimes God reminds us of the resolutions we have made in the past.  Some resolutions must be carried out over time such as losing weight or reading the Bible in one year.  Some things involve just one action.  What one action can you do today that you resolve to do?
