04 May Your Servant Is Listening (1 Sm 3:9-10) by Royce Hood
When Samuel went to sleep, the LORD came and revealed His presence, calling out, “Samuel, Samuel!” Samuel answered, “Speak, for your servant is listening.” ~ 1 Sam 3:9-10
Reflection: We must be prepared spiritually to answer God’s call when it comes. Our call to serve God can come at any time, and it often comes when we least expect it. So we should make a conscious effort to always be prepared to answer as Samuel did, “speak [Lord], for your servant is listening.” Take the story of fellow LIFE Runner Abby Johnson, the former Planned Parenthood Director who quit her job and is now a national Pro-Life leader. Her call came on Sept 26, 2009 when Abby was asked to assist with an ultrasound-guided abortion. “She watched in horror as a 13 week baby fought, and ultimately lost, its life at the hands of the abortionist” (from UnPlanned book). Abby did not know her life would be forever changed when she arrived at work that morning, but she was able, despite her past, to recognize God’s call!
.
Challenge: Our call may come at any time. God may require from us our time, our treasure and even our life. Are we ready?
